R. J. Corman Celebrates 10th Anniversary Serving Memphis Region

OLIVE BRANCH, MS – R. J. Corman Railroad Group is proud to celebrate the 10th anniversary of its operations serving the greater Memphis region this month. In March 2006, R. J. Corman Railroad Company’s Tennessee Terminal short line railroad began operations out of its Olive Branch yard office near Hacks Cross Road. Working with its interchange partner, BNSF Railway, the Tennessee Terminal railroad serves three local industrial parks – Olive Branch Industrial Park, BNSF Tennessee Yard and Shelby Air Park. With nearly 50 miles of track, the Tennessee Terminal railroad serves 32 customers and hauls everything from plastics to make toys and detergent bottles to peanuts to make peanut butter.

Also servicing the Memphis region is R. J. Corman Railroad Services’ Memphis Division. The Memphis Division calls a former airplane hangar home, where it houses the highly specialized, heavy equipment used to successfully complete any job requested by its railroad customers. R. J. Corman’s Railroad Services company is a full service railroad contracting business with highly-trained crews and operators who perform a wide array of services, including changing out motors on locomotives, building and rehabbing railroad track, heavy equipment recovery, and railroad right-of-way clearing and maintenance.

“We are thrilled to be celebrating this milestone anniversary here in Memphis,” said Craig King, President and CEO of R. J. Corman Railroad Group. “Our employees are the backbone of our operations here in the Memphis region serving all of our customers and this anniversary is a testament to their hard work.”

“Congratulations to R. J. Corman,” said City of Olive Branch Mayor Scott Phillips. “Companies like R. J. Corman are a critical link to meeting this region’s growing transportation needs and connecting our local manufacturing base to the national freight system, as well as servicing the needs of the region’s substantial freight rail network.”
