R. J. Corman Material Sales: Green Line Extension Job

In preparation for the extension of the Green Line in Somerville, MA, Green Line Extension (GLX) construction crews needed 7,000 pre-plated ties with 115RE pandrol plates. The GLX project extended the existing Green Line north of its current terminus at Lechmere Station, and involved construction of six new stations along two branches, the Medford Branch and Union Square Branch, along with the relocation and reconstruction of Lechmere Station.

R. J. Corman Material Sales was relied upon because the customer had worked with R. J. Corman companies in the past, liked their commitment to customer service, and appreciated their professional approach to problem solving. However, this was the first instance where they relied upon R. J. Corman’s Material Sales company.

Within three weeks of the initial contact about the project, R. J. Corman Material Sales had defined the scope of work, submitted a proposal, and accepted the contract. Then, tie plating began through a vender. R. J. Corman delivered the 7,000 pre-plated ties to the customer on time and to their standards. The ties were plated in DuBois, PA and delivered to Somerville, MA by August 24, 2018, in a few separate rounds. They were able to complete the job to the customer’s standards. This was a great opportunity for the Material Sales company, and demonstrated the company’s commitment to growth and willingness to complete unique projects.
