Real-World Learning: JCTC Students Tour R. J. Corman's Shops

On Wednesday, October 22, 2025, we welcomed 45 students from Jessamine Career and Technology Centers (JCTC) Diesel Technology Program to our Nicholasville Shops. This group had the opportunity to take a guided tour of the complex, where they experienced real-world applications of the content they are learning in their classes.

The students are participating in a two-year medium-heavy-duty motivated course designed to prepare them for potential co-op opportunities upon completion. The program is open to all high school grade levels, but targets students in their sophomore and junior years, specifically. They’ve been taking classes covering topics such as preventative maintenance, steering and suspension, and pneumatic braking systems, which all directly connect to the work done in our Shops.

Chris Newton, Diesel Technology Instructor at JCTC, shared that he hopes the visit will help his students recognize the importance of working together. “Every individual who works for R. J. Corman must rely on every other employee to make sure that the company thrives, so they all work really well together.” He explained, “I wanted them to be able to experience how the camaraderie between the departments makes the company successful.”

R. J. Corman is committed to supporting the next generation of Nicholasville’s trade professionals. We look forward to seeing the great things these students will accomplish in the future!
