R. J. Corman's April Corman Colyer Named a 2026 Women in Rail Honoree
April Corman Colyer, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees for R. J. Corman Railroad Group, has been named one of Railway Age's 2026 Women in Rail honorees. The annual recognition highlights women whose leadership, service, and industry involvement are helping shape the future of rail transportation.
Before assuming her current leadership responsibilities, April served as Dispatcher, Project Manager, Director of Public Relations, and Commercial Development Manager within R. J. Corman. These roles gave her firsthand experience in railroad operations, customer relationships, industry engagement, and strategic growth.
Her public relations and commercial development work connected customers, community leaders, economic development organizations, elected officials, and industry partners while promoting rail transportation and the role of short line railroads in local economies. She continues to represent R. J. Corman at industry, transportation, economic development, and civic events and support initiatives connecting railroads with the communities they serve.
Earlier this year, April accepted the American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association Hall of Fame recognition on behalf of her late father, R. J. Corman founder Rick Corman.
As a leader who has worked across operations, communications, business development, and governance, April's career reflects the many opportunities available within the railroad industry. Her selection as a 2026 Women in Rail honoree recognizes both her exceptional leadership and her commitment to preserving the values on which R. J. Corman was built as she helps guide the company into the future.
Congratulations to April on this well-deserved recognition.
