March 9th Proclaimed R. J. Corman Railroad Group Day in the City of Lexington

Linda Gorton, Mayor of Lexington, KY, declared March 9, 2023, as R. J. Corman Railroad Group Day. The honor was announced in the city of Lexington's Urban County Council Meeting in light of the company's celebration of its 50th anniversary and in the presence of R. J. Corman Railroad Group Board of Trustees members, company executives, and family members. 

"We have got a lot to celebrate tonight," said Mayor Gorton in the announcement. "2023 marks the 50th anniversary of the founding of R. J. Corman. The company has many accomplishments, and I want to thank you for the good jobs you continue to provide right here in our city and our state. Over 500 Kentuckians work for R. J. Corman." 

The proclamation emphasized the company's trajectory, achievements, and positive impact on the Bluegrass region and country. 

Ed Quinn, R. J. Corman Railroad Group President and Chief Executive Officer, represented the company and accepted the proclamation. 

In his speech, Mr. Quinn thanked the Mayor and Councilmember and reiterated the company's commitment to keep contributing to the city's economic development. 

"We celebrate our 50th anniversary with gratitude for the legacy of Mr. Corman and many others that contributed to leading the company to where we are today," said Quinn. "Half a century of stories of people that shaped the company, the railroad industry, and our city. We look forward to the next 50 as we keep building together for a brighter future," continued Quinn.

WHEREAS, R. J. Corman Railroad Group was founded in 1973 in Central Kentucky by visionary entrepreneur and philanthropist Richard J. Corman, who started with a single backhoe and a dump truck; and

WHEREAS, today, the company operates in 23 states and has more than 70 locations throughout our nation; and

WHEREAS, R. J. Corman Railroad Group employs more than 1,400 people, over 500 of which are based in the state of Kentucky; and

WHEREAS, R. J. Corman Railroad Group's numerous services include railroad construction, short line railroad operations, industrial switching services, transloading operations, emergency response services, track material logistics, distribution centers, signal design and construction, and My Old Kentucky Dinner Train; and

WHEREAS, R. J. Corman Railroad Company Central Kentucky Lines contributes to the economic development of the Bluegrass; and

WHEREAS, the company, through its dedicated employees, strives to be the best-in-class service provider in the industry; and

WHEREAS, R. J. Corman Railroad Group celebrates its 50th anniversary with gratitude toward its customers, collaborators, and stakeholders, reflecting on the achievements of today and focusing on a bright future.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, LINDA GORTON, MAYOR OF LEXINGTON, DO HEREBY DECLARE MARCH 9, 2023, R. J. CORMAN RAILROAD GROUP DAY.
