R. J. Corman Hosts Guests for Tour of Nashville & Eastern Railroad

Today, R. J. Corman hosted some very special guests for a tour of the Nashville & Eastern Railroad Corporation (NERR).  Guests included State Representative Clark Boyd, State Representative Terri Lynn Weaver, State Senator Mark Pody, Wilson County Mayor Randall Hutto, Ryan Swindell from the TN Short Line Alliance, Lebanon Wilson County Chamber of Commerce President Melanie Minter, and Wesley Stout from Vulcan Materials Company. The tour included the Lebanon, TN yard, passenger cars, and yard office. Our visitors were able to see and learn more about R. J. Corman’s schedules, routes, equipment, and capabilities. Discussion centered around:

  • Change in ownership to R. J. Corman
  • Importance of the railroad to customers’ logistical operations
  • Potential development opportunities along the rail line
  • Nashville Star opportunities for potential growth in the future regarding ridership and routes
  • Project reviews/updates on recently completed track maintenance and ongoing and future rail crossing upgrades on the lines
  • Railroad authorities and their role in TN, the transportation equity fund, and the infrastructure impact on short lines

“We were thrilled to have elected officials tour the facility, learn more about our rail operations, and discuss potential for growth both on the freight side and the passenger side. We are thankful for their support of the railroad industry. We appreciate everyone’s time who attended and for allowing us to highlight the importance of short line railroads as well as the service we provide to the transportation network of Tennessee.”
