R. J. Corman Railroad Police Lead Rail Safety Week Efforts with Operation Clear Track in Lexington, KY

As part of “See Tracks? Think Train®” Week, the R. J. Corman Railroad Police organized and hosted an Operation Clear Track safety blitz on the R. J. Corman Central Kentucky Lines in Lexington, KY.

Operation Clear Track is the largest single rail safety law enforcement initiative in the United States, led by the non-profit Operation Lifesaver Inc., which R. J. Corman proudly supports alongside law enforcement and first responder agencies nationwide.

The event focused on educating the public about railroad grade crossing laws and the dangers of trespassing on railroad property. R. J. Corman Railroad Police were joined by representatives from the Lexington Police Department and R. J. Corman Railroad Company officials, working together to raise awareness and promote safe behavior around railroad tracks.

At the Alexandria Drive railroad crossings, officers and officials engaged directly with motorists and pedestrians, distributing educational safety flyers. These materials included:

  • Tips for safely navigating grade crossings
  • Information on avoiding trespassing
  • Guidance on using the blue and white emergency notification signs posted at crossings
  • A reminder to report suspicious activity near railroad tracks or equipment by calling 911

In addition to field outreach, the R. J. Corman Railroad Police held safety briefings with Lextran (Lexington’s Transit Authority) and Gold Shield Transportation, sharing rail safety materials and reinforcing best practices for transit operators.

Congratulations to the R. J. Corman Railroad Police and community partners for leading a successful initiative that strengthens public safety and supports the communities along our rail lines.
