Justin Broyles Named Chair of ASLRRA Board of Directors

Justin Broyles, President & CEO of R. J. Corman Railroad Group, has been named Chair of the American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association Board of Directors. He was formally installed on April 14 during the ASLRRA Annual Conference and Exhibition in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Broyles succeeds Matthew Walsh, Executive Vice President of Global Corporate Development for Genesee & Wyoming Railroad Services, Inc., who completed a three-year term as Chair. As part of the installation ceremony, Walsh passed the traditional spike maul to Broyles, symbolizing the official transition of board leadership and responsibility.

Broyles has served on the ASLRRA Board of Directors since 2020 and has been actively involved in advancing initiatives that support the long-term success of short line and regional railroads. Having previously served as Vice Chair of the ASLRRA Board of Directors, his appointment as Chair reflects strong industry confidence in his leadership and experience.

“We are looking forward to working with Justin Broyles—an experienced, long standing board member— as he steps into the Chairmanship.  His background across all aspects of the rail industry, his unparalleled network, and his reputation for integrity, coupled with his inclusive and strategic leadership style will enable him to represent the breadth of our membership.  His high character, business acumen, and ability to identify the right priority at the right time will serve our board well.” Chuck Baker, President, ASLRRA.

As Chair, Broyles will help guide ASLRRA’s strategic direction and advocacy efforts, supporting initiatives related to safety, infrastructure investment, workforce development, and the legal, regulatory, and legislative priorities that are important to member railroads.

R. J. Corman has long been engaged with ASLRRA through leadership, participation, and collaboration across the industry. Broyles’ service as Chair underscores the company’s continued commitment to collaboration, advocacy, and growth of short line and regional railroads.
