R. J. Corman’s Tyler White Featured in ASLRRA’s “Veterans Turned Railroaders” Article
We’re proud to share that Tyler White, Vice President of Government Affairs at R. J. Corman Railroad Group, has been featured in the American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association’s (ASLRRA) November newsletter as part of their “Veterans Turned Railroaders” article. This recognition highlights Tyler’s continued commitment to service, both as a member of the U.S. Marine Corps and as a leader in the rail industry.
Tyler served in the Marine Corps from 2004 to 2012. During this time, he conducted multiple combat deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan and held several leadership positions. His roles included Squad Leader in the 3rd Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment during Operation Iraqi Freedom, Tactics and Leadership Instructor at the Marine Corps Officer Candidates School, and Team Leader for Military Information Support Operations at the Information Operations Center in Quantico, Virginia.

After transitioning from military service, Tyler brought the skills he had developed as a U.S. Marine Corps member into public service and advocacy. He worked with both the U.S. House of Representatives and the Kentucky Coal Association before he assumed his position as Director of Project Management for Non-Emergency Services at R. J. Corman in 2022.
In June 2025, Tyler was promoted to Vice President of Government Affairs. This milestone recognized his leadership skills, proactive vision, and dedication to advancing R. J. Corman’s mission. Tyler has since dedicated himself to shaping infrastructure and transportation policy by strategically engaging with federal, state, and local government agencies.
Tyler’s promotion is not his only recent accomplishment that displays his impact and commitment to growth. In May 2025, he completed the Michigan State Railway Management Certificate Program. This year-long program provided Tyler with the opportunity to deepen his understanding of the rail industry and equipped him with key tools that will be instrumental in R. J. Corman’s organizational success.
Outside of work, Tyler serves as President of Friends of the Lexington Fisher House. The nonprofit organization uses fundraising, outreach, and advocacy to support the Lexington Fisher House, a comfortable and free place for the families of veterans receiving treatment at the Lexington VA Medical Center to stay. Tyler’s leadership contributes to the ongoing support and care of local veteran families.
In his interview with ASLRRA, Tyler shared insights on how his military background shapes his work in rail, why veterans are well-suited for the industry, and how companies can better recruit and retain veteran talent. “Veterans understand structure, safety, and teamwork,” he said. “We bring a strong sense of purpose and pride to our work, which makes us valuable assets in an industry that powers the nation’s economy.”
We’re honored to have Tyler on the R. J. Corman team, and we’re proud to see him recognized by ASLRRA. His story demonstrates that a veteran’s commitment to leadership and service will always have a place in the railroad industry, and his dedication to advocating for veterans is truly inspiring.
